Contractor wanted for Sunderland’s £85m Wear Crossing

Contractor wanted for Sunderland’s £85m Wear Crossing

Sunderland City Council are seeking a contractor to deliver the Wear Crossing, in a project worth £85m.

Plans to build Britain’s tallest bridge with iconic curving pylons were abandoned in favour for a more cost-effective A-frame pylon design, after costs started to soar. The ambitious plan to build independently curved, free-standing bridge pylons was deemed too high-risk for the £120m budget.

The council is now inviting contractors to come back with cheaper design and build options, and hopes to shortlist three bidders. The project is expected to start in March 2015 and finish in November 2017.

PQQs are available from the NEPO purchasing portal.

Earlier this year, Propeller’s Bid Response team helped a national contractor secure a place on the North East Procurement Organisation (NEPO) Construction Framework, worth between £90 million and £1 billion over its four-year duration. Read more…

New client secures place as a supplier on £1.25bn Network Rail Framework

New client secures place as a supplier on £1.25bn Network Rail Framework

Propeller’s Bid Response team has helped secure a new client a contract to provide specialist services on Network Rail’s £1.25bn CP5 framework.

Our client is a multi-discipline specialist contractor, providing structural refurbishments and strengthening throughout the UK. The bid was for them to provide a solution to one of the four successful main contractors on the CP5 framework.

This was a must-win bid for our client, who approached us due to our particular expertise in winning work in the rail sector. We provided specialist bid writing, strategic reviews and managed the bid process with EasyPQQ Bid Submission Software.

The works will be carried out on Network Rail’s Anglia, Kent, Sussex and Wessex routes over the next five years.

The four contractors on the framework are Costain, VolkerFitzpatrick, Bam Nuttall and Osborne. The agreements began on 1 April 2014 and will cover almost half of the region’s £2.5bn workbank in control period five, which runs from 2014 to 2019.

We write to win. Contact us on 01462 004477 or via our online contact form to discuss how we can help you.
